Given what’s going on in the world, it’s no surprise that customers have been calling us, anxious about the shocking rise in energy costs that followed the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
No one knows where things will go from here. One thing we can tell you is that we dislike this situation as much as you do. As prices rise, people think we make more money when, in fact, we make less. Customers have trouble paying their bills, and our receivables skyrocket. Meanwhile, we must pay our suppliers in just 10 days. This requires us to borrow much more money than usual from our bank. It’s an extremely difficult situation for everyone.
While we’re pleased that many of our customers were shielded because they protected their price last year when prices were lower, please be aware that next season’s price cap will reflect the new reality.
