The first Earth Day was held over 50 years ago. In 1970, it was observed with demonstrations for more government action toward clean air and water. Before the end of that year, the Environmental Protection Agency was born.
Today, we still observe Earth Day, and while many of the environmental concerns that existed in the 1970s have waned, we still struggle to achieve real climate action in many respects. As policymakers and activists debate the best way to curb the negative impact of climate change, many homeowners worry that the way they heat their homes and warm their water is not part of the solution.
At Cubby Oil & Energy, we’re proud to deliver ultra-clean B50 Bioheat SuperPlus™. Here’s a breakdown of how this fuel helps the planet, the country and your home.
Many people aren’t aware that the heating oil industry is at the forefront of renewable energy, and Cubby is leading the way in Massachusetts.
Our fuel blends one part ultra-low sulfur heating oil with one part sustainable biodiesel. Biodiesel is a clean-burning gallon-for-gallon replacement for petroleum. It’s produced using renewable organic materials, including soybeans, other plant oils, animal fats and algae.
Our 50/50 blend is the highest biofuel percentage around. Many of our competitors blend as low as 10 percent, the minimum required by Massachusetts. But Cubby aims higher.
When you burn our B50 Bioheat, greenhouse gas emissions are instantly reduced by 40%. This home heating oil releases fewer greenhouse gas emissions than natural gas. Plus, the combustion of biofuels recycles carbon-dioxide emissions through renewable plant materials and other biomass feedstocks. We are getting closer to net-zero emissions every day!
The biodiesel used in Bioheat fuel is 100 percent domestically produced. This year, we’ve all become more aware that, although the United States is an energy exporter, domestic energy prices remain tied to the global markets. Increased use of American-made biofuel reduces our vulnerability to global energy markets.
Biodiesel production supports tens of thousands of U.S. jobs and generates over $1.5 billion for our economy, too!
Moreover, you can take comfort that clean-burning Bioheat fuel is great for your heating equipment. It leaves far fewer deposits in your system. This means less wear and tear, fewer repairs and an overall longer lifespan. That’s fantastic for your home budget!
