Automatic Deliver Customers: Why We Need To Know Changes To Your Household

Date: October 5, 2020

Make sure we are up-to-date with your heating oil needs

service changes massachusettsThis year has brought a lot of changes to our lives here in greater Boston.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have had to adjust how we live our lives in the most basic ways:

Some of us have not been able to celebrate graduations, weddings, birthdays, births, and holidays with our families and friends.

High school and college graduates didn’t get their well-deserved graduation ceremony and all that goes with it.

Young adults have had to move back home with their parents instead of building their planned future or living at an on-campus dorm.

Some of us brought our elderly parents into our homes so we could safely care for them and they would not be isolated.

Why Household Changes Matter To Your Home Heating

You may not realize that changes like this, and others unrelated to the pandemic, can dramatically affect your heating oil usage. And if you have automatic delivery with Cubby Oil, we really need to know that your heating oil usage is changing.

When we schedule your automatic delivery, we base it not only on current weather conditions, but we calculate timing of our deliveries by factoring in your prior heating oil usage as well. If your heating oil usage increases, we need to factor that into when we schedule a delivery to your home. And if we don’t know about that change, that affects our projections.

You’d be surprised what a difference even just one of those changes in your household can make in terms of your heating oil usage.

If you worked outside your home before the pandemic, you most likely turned down the heat or programmed your thermostat to do so for the hours you’d be away from home. It’s a smart way to use less energy and save money.

But when you’re working at home, you’ll want the home warm instead of at its usual lower daytime temperature. That means you will be using more heating oil during the daytime hours where you hadn’t prior.

Again – even modest changes can adjust projections by days, or even weeks. Don’t risk the burden that comes with a heating oil run-out. Contact us today to review any changes to your household, and we’ll take care of the rest! And as an added bonus: If you’re currently an automatic delivery customer, you are eligible to sign up for either our Capped or Fixed Oil Price Plans before winter arrives!
