Date: April 13, 2020
April 22, 2020, will be the 50th annual Earth Day.
The inaugural celebration happened during a time when people were beginning to see the toll of environmental damage in their own communities, all over the nation. In California, the Santa Barbara oil spill resulted in almost 100,000 barrels of crude oil spilled into the Santa Barbara channel. In Ohio, decades of pollution and an oil slick combined to cause the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland to catch on fire. In New York City, 200 people died in a smog event in 1966 thanks to dangerous levels of sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide.
Much has changed since that first Earth Day. Many regulations came into existence through government action stemming from these incidents like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. So did improvements across the board from these industries.
One of the industries that continues to work towards reducing its environmental impact is that of the heating oil industry. And, thanks to that work, Cubby Oil only delivers B40 Bioheat™, a home heating oil you’ll be proud to use!
This is not the home heating oil that was around for the first Earth Day 50 years ago. Our B40 Bioheat is a blend of ultra-low-sulfur heating oil, which is already a vast improvement over traditional heating oil, and renewable biodiesels.
The biodiesel in Cubby Oil’s B40 Bioheat are made with renewable resources including:
Using our B40 Bioheat is great for the planet in several ways. One big way is reduced greenhouse gas emissions. When you heat your home with B40 Bioheat, you’ll keep your home warm with much fewer greenhouse gas emissions than if you use natural gas!
B40 Bioheat is much easier on your home’s heating equipment because it burns cleaner and leaves fewer deposits on the heat exchangers. That not only means fewer breakdowns and repairs, but your equipment can last much longer, meaning less waste in landfills, too.
Cubby Oil serves thousands of happy customers in and around the Boston-area. Our 70-year-old company has doubled in size in just the past 6 years, and has hundreds of 5-star reviews. See for yourself, today!
