How to Avoid Running Out of Heating Oil this Winter

Date: January 27, 2020

running out of heating oilYou have a pretty full life. There’s work, school, the kids’ activities, family time, a social life and more that keep you pretty busy day in and day out. So, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that you might forget to check your heating oil tank gauge levels and schedule a heating oil delivery from Cubby Oil.

You really, really don’t want to do that. Running out of heating oil can become a hassle and fixing the problem may require an emergency delivery. Heating oil pricing is, of course, subject to supply and demand. Prices often rise when demand for heating oil is at its highest, like it is now in the middle of winter. And you may have to pay extra for emergency heating oil delivery and service.

Then there’s the hassle. If your house is without heat and the temperatures get very cold, as it can here in greater Boston, and you don’t want to risk the possibility of frozen or burst pipes. Sludge from the bottom of your heating oil tank could enter the fuel lines, clogging filters and narrowing passages throughout your heating system, and no one wants that, either.

What to do if you’re low on heating oil

The first step is easy: Call Cubby Oil right away to schedule a heating oil delivery.

The second step is preventing this from happening again. The easiest way to do that is to sign up for automatic heating oil delivery with Cubby Oil. You no longer have to worry about checking your heating oil tank gauge levels, or calling us to schedule a delivery.

Instead, we use your state-of-the-art computer system to track your home’s heating oil usage based on the weather. Before your tank reaches 25 percent full, we’ll make a delivery. Our large fleet of trucks makes us able to reach you promptly.

If you choose to continue with Will-call delivery, don’t let the tank get below 25 percent before scheduling a heating oil delivery.

There needs to be a path cleared to the heating oil tank’s fill pipe.
